Gearing up for GE: How ready is the PAP to do battle?

Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat meeting diners at Tampines Round Market and Food Centre in July. Before the polls, each constituency will unveil its own local manifesto which details plans for the neighbourhood, such as upcoming infrastructure projects.

As the long-time MP for Bukit Panjang ward, Dr Teo Ho Pin is a familiar sight in the estate, and he ventures that about eight to nine in 10 residents recognise him when they see him.

This familiarity can be attributed in part to his sheer length of service – 23 years helming the ward which had been at various times a part of Sembawang GRC, Holland-Bukit Panjang GRC and, from 2006, a single-seat constituency.
